Fern Pavilion

Fern Pavilion
2025
Existing pavilion structure, concrete, ferns, spray mist irrigation system, water
300x300x280cm

Fern Pavilion picks up on one of the few existing architectural elements in Krämerwald: A pavilion made of narrow aluminum poles that stands, almost invisibly, like a line drawing in a clearing. For the installation, the pavilion is converted into a refuge for ferns, including an irrigation system. The work combines elements of renaturation, botanical laboratory and domesticated garden.
Time will tell whether the ferns will be able to populate the forest beyond the pavilion or remain dependent on this artificial habitat.
